چکیده
Abstract In this paper, bending strength and physical properties (specific gravity, dimensional stability equilibrium moisture content) of a Malaysian bamboo locally known as Beting (Gigantochloa levis) are addressed. Characterizations G. levis in terms the variability location along culm height (top, middle, bottom), section (nodes internodes), fiber orientation (longitudinal, tangential radial) layer (outer inner) were conducted. Comparison these is also made to some commercial timber species. It was found that has favorable mechanical although specific gravity tendency be on higher side. The characteristics studied have at different locations, sections, directions. There with bamboo. indicated from study satisfactory.

Alkaline Sulfite Anthraquinone and Methanol Pulping of Bamboo (Gigantochloa scortechinii)
Alkali ratios and cooking time of the alkaline sulfite anthraquinone (AQ) and methanol (ASAM) pulping process of bamboo (Gigantochloa scortechinii) were studied. Bamboo chips were cooked at three different levels of sodium hydroxide and cooking time, namely 14, 16, or 18% for 60, 90, or 120 minutes. Pulping parameters that remained constant were the use of 0.5% ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid...
متن کاملPrebiotic activity of polysaccharides extracted from Gigantochloa levis (Buluh beting) shoots.
Bamboo shoot crude polysaccharides (BSCP) extracted from the shoots of Gigantochloa levis gave about 3.27 ± 0.18% on dry basis and a very minute percentage of protein (0.02 ± 0.01%). The molecular weight of BSCP estimated by gel chromatography was found to be around 7.49 × 103 Da, while the molecular weights of purified fractions (F1 to F5) were around 1550.96, 1471.63, 1685.78, 1691.61 and 155...

Tensile properties of bamboo laminae, prepared from bamboo slivers, selected from different regions of bamboo culms (Dendrocalamus strictus), increases from inner to outer region for any cross section and the same is experienced from bottom to top. Application of rule of mixture, on linear regression line drawn from test results, show that fiber strength increases and matrix strength decreases ...
متن کاملModeling Bamboo as a Functionally Graded Material
Natural fibers are promising for engineering applications due to their low cost. They are abundantly available in tropical and subtropical regions of the world, and they can be employed as construction materials. Among natural fibers, bamboo has been widely used for housing construction around the world. Bamboo is an optimized composite material which exploits the concept of Functionally Graded...
متن کاملBamboo Taper Effect on Third Point Loading Bending Test
Abstract—Geometrical shape of bamboo usually assumed as tapered hollow pipe. This study proved that the dimensional changes along the bamboo stem significantly affected to its Modulus of Rupture (SR) value which measured from third point loading bending test. Therefore if the bending test applied using third point loading configuration, the SR value should be adjusted by strength ratio of taper...
